National media highlights international publication on scrub typhus

In another episode of the program Tu Nuevo ADN of Radio ADN Chile, science journalist Andrea Obaid spoke with Dr. Gerardo Acosta, director of the EPIwild project, about the spread of scrub typhus and why it is considered an emerging disease.

At the beginning of this year, the spread of this disease kept a sector of the country on health alert and set off alarm bells among health personnel and the scientific community. A publication in the journal Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report -where Dr. Acosta is co-author- reports that this is an international outbreak. What does it mean, how is it transmitted and what are the consequences for public health?
